Instructions
In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup oats and 3 cups almond milk to a boil.
Turn down the heat and simmer until the almond milk is absorbed into the oats, about 15 minutes.
In a small skillet over medium heat, dry toast 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut flakes and 1/4 cup sesame seeds until they brown, about 1 to 2 minutes.
When the oatmeal is finished, top with the toasted coconut, sesame seeds, and 1 cup halved and pitted cherries and serve.
Ingredients

Variations by Dosha:
-
Vata:
Vatas can substitute heavier fruits like figs or dates for the cherries.
-
Pitta:
Pittas can add extra coconut flakes or cherries for a more indulgent experience.
-
Kapha:
Kaphas can switch out the coconut flakes for cacao nibs, berries, or honey to vary the flavor profile.
Ayurvedic Lifestyle Tip:
Consistent daily exercise is fundamental to an Ayurvedic lifestyle to ward off disease, improve immunity, balance mood, combat stress, and increase flexibility and mobility. Yoga is one option, but walking, strength training, and other cardiovascular and muscle conditioning workouts count, too.
